Designed by the Mexican architect César Pérez Becerril and inaugurated in 2015, the FACMED cafeteria was born as a modern architectural proposal within the campus of the University City after nine years of planning and work.

There are two levels in which this cafeteria is divided, a basement and a first level that contains the cafeteria itself, accessing to the first one through ramps embedded below the level of the cafeteria.

​

The use of the steel plates is highlighted, being the one that make the enclosure a distinctive place within the UNAM and with a unique architecture that distinguishes the work of Pérez Becerril.

​

An outstanding project within modern Mexican architecture for several reasons, including the fact that it does not simply respect its immediate environment that includes the Faculty of Medicine and the natural surroundings, but goes further and creates a clear dialogue with the context with an inspiration in the open Mesoamerican spaces that make of the Ciudad Universitaria an architectural jewel declared a World Heritage.

Through the drawing we can appreciate details that we can not distinguish with the naked eye and when we draw any object our memory captures it and understands it from a different perspective; Therefore it represents the personal understanding of a space and how we see it, which changes from person to person. Through these drawings I only try to have an overview of the cafeteria and its exterior in understanding with its surroundings and the natural of CU, the latter being what made it honorable mention in the Biennial of Mexican Architecture of 2016.

Diseñada por el arquitecto mexicano César Pérez Becerril e inaugurada en el año 2015, la cafetería de FACMED nace como una propuesta arquitectónica moderna dentro del campus de la Ciudad Universitaria después de nueve años de planificación y trabajo.

​

Existen dos niveles en los cuales se divide esta cafetería, un sótano y un primer nivel que contiene la cafetería en sí, accediendo al primero por medio de rampas incrustadas por debajo del nivel de la cafetería.

​

Es claro el uso de las placas de acero que hacen del recinto un lugar distintivo dentro de la UNAM y con una arquitectura única que distingue al trabajo de Pérez Becerril.

Un proyecto destacado dentro de la arquitectura moderna mexicana por varias razones, entre ellas el hecho de que no simplemente respeta su entorno inmediato que comprende la Facultad de Medicina y lo natural de los alrededores, sino que va más allá y crea un dialogo claro con el contexto con una inspiración en los espacios abiertos mesoamericanos que hacen de la Ciudad Universitaria una joya arquitectónica declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

A través del dibujo se aprecian detalles que no a simple vista distinguimos y cuando dibujamos cualquier objeto nuestra memoria lo capta y lo comprende desde una perspectiva distinta; por lo tanto representa la comprensión personal de un espacio y el como lo vemos, que cambia de persona en persona. A través de estos dibujos trato únicamente de tener una perspectiva general de la cafetería y su exterior en comprensión con su entorno y lo natural de CU, siendo esto último lo que la hizo tener mención honorífica en la Bienal de Arquitectura Mexicana del 2016.
